NewsGeorge Harrison to receive star on Hollywood Walk of FameGeorge Harrison will receive a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame next year. The late Beatle will be honoured at a 2008 induction ceremony, along with Christina Aguilera and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who will also receive stars in their names. Hollywood's honourary mayor, Johnny Grant, said that these artists were chosen "for a combination of professional achievement and community involvement." The Hollywood Walk of Fame runs along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles and is embedded with the names of more than 2,000 celebrities recognised by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for their contributions to the entertainment industry. Arctic Monkeys bring new album to London Arctic Monkeys gave London its first glimpse of forthcoming album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' at the first of two sold-out Astoria shows tonight (April 12). The band showcased seven tracks from the eagerly awaited record, which is released on April 23. They were new single 'Brianstorm', 'Balaclava', 'Teddy Picker', 'Do Me A Favour', 'This House Is A Circus', 'Old Yellow Bricks' and 'If You Were There, Beware'. Surprisingly however, proposed future single 'Flourescent Adolescent' was not performed. The 18-song set did also feature a host of crowd-pleasers from 2006 debut LP 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', including the Number One singles 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' and 'When The Sun Goes Down'. Before introducing the former, frontman Alex Turner said to the crowd "It's awful nice to see you again." Though stage banter was kept to a minimum, though Turner later declaring he "didn't give a fuck" after hearing chants from the crowd about London team Tottenham Hotspur being knocked out of the UEFA Cup tonight. The band played: 'If You Found This It's Probably Too Late' 'Brianstorm' 'Still Take You Home' 'Dancing Shoes' 'From The Ritz To The Rubble' 'Balaclava' 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' 'Teddy Picker' 'Do Me A Favour' 'Mardy Bum' 'Fake Tales Of San Francisco' 'This House Is A Circus' 'Old Yellow Bricks' 'If You Were There, Beware' 'The View From The Afternoon' 'You Probably Couldn't See For The Lights But You Were Looking Straight At Me' 'When the Sun Goes Down' 'Leave Before The Lights Come On' 'A Certain Romance' Arctic Monkeys continue the sold-out tour at the same venue tomorrow night (April 13) and then they will play: Liverpool Carling Academy (14) Newcastle Carling Academy (16) Dundee Caird Hall (17) Glasgow Barrowlands (18) Birmingham Carling Academy (20) Sheffield Leadmill (21, 22) Arctic Monkeys, meanwhile, went to Number 11 in the UK singles charts this week with downloads of new song 'Brianstorm' - the physical single is not released until April 16. |
